I get mine from Palmer Metals. They are in the sterling silver chain ends section, called cable thimble.

i have been looking at wire guardians after reading previous threads recommending them . i thought that i would have to buy beadalon ones as that was the wire i would be using.
does it matter which ones you use, don`t want to buy the most expensive if i don`t have to

You can use any brand you like - just like you would choose your preferred soap powder. All you need to consider is the size of the wire you are using and make sure you buy the corresponding size in guardians.

Hi 'Just Sally' just check the diameter of the wire you're using, it will say something like 0.018" (0.46mm) which refers to it's diameter.

Then when looking at wire guardians, look at the info about their internal diameter (ID for short). And just make sure the wire you're using is smaller than the ID of the wire guardian.
