  • Silver Clay / PMC Course Pics :)

Phew - just finished tidying up from the intro to silver clay course.
I'm hoping everyone enjoyed it ~ one member couldn't come but she's now first on the course for the 15th Feb (and her pack is here all excitedly waiting ).

We did a mammoth 11 hour stint so hopefully everyones heads aren't still spinning on the drive home. I'll leave the various participants to point out their particular pendants, but here are the "group photos".
These are their first ever pieces and I think they all did smashingly!!

          They are amazing! (drools!)

I would love a go at pmc, but I cant really justify the cost at the moment. So I will satisfy myself with ogling all of the designs by you clever peeps!

I'm in Market Deeping near Peterborough
This was a bit of an unusual course as it was me wanting to "give something back" to the crafts forum community. The course wasn't really like my standard courses because a lovely kit was included to take away and there was no charge for my time... (it was £50 including a £40 kit and extras). My first house guest arrived at 9.30 and my last left at 9pm so some might still be in bed dreaming of silver clay, lol.

Normally my courses are £65 but the kit would be a little smaller and it would concentrate on just making (rather than an overview of lots of different techniques).

Having said that one person couldn't make it so I will be running another overview day at £50 for forum members. It will also include the LARGE £40 starter kit http://www.polymerclaypit.co.uk/acat...rter_kits.html
but the extras will be different (rollers, mat etc included too )

It will be on Sunday 15th February..& to give you an idea of what we covered yesterday we did:
Introduction to Silver clay, various types of Art Clay and their uses.
Conditioning the clay & optimum working conditions.
Design & options for the different firing methods.
Moulding, Texturing & Forming the Clay (+an overview of the various types of textures available)
Using two part silicone moulding compounds
            Setting Stones & suitable stones
            UV Resin for silver clay
What photo polymer plates are and what you can do with them.
            Application of Liver of Sulpher
How you might make beads on marbles and what cork clay would be used for.
How to make a ring and sizing rings for shrinkage.
Hob firing, Torch Firing and Kiln Firing and the differences and benefits of the various forms....(and that's only the stuff I can remember, lol)

Hopefully the things I had to only demo (because of time constraints) will be more fully explored by the course participants in their own time (they all left with plenty of extra clay so should have fun experimenting!)

                  Hi Nic,

It was a fab day yesterday - thanks bery much for all that time you gave up!! I really was dreaming of silver clay all night and woke up with all sort of designs in my head - I can't want to get home from work today now and have another play!

I'm wearing my pendant (the small one with the flower) today on a black chord and love it!

                  Thanks again,

                  Katie

i had a fantastic time and learned so much in one day,my head was buzzing.
nic is wonderfully generous with her time and expertise(and tea),if you feel you are too far away, she is in a lovely area with lots of nice b&b`s why not make a weekend of it?
                          again many thanks Nic

I'm so glad you all had a good time and came away enthusiastic for more,
I'll be expecting to see lots of wonderful silver clay pendants up in the "strut you stuff" section soon
I even got inspired too! The gorgeous heart that WitchfordSilver made used one of my handmade texture plates, I'd made hearts but hadn't added stones to that particular pattern....guess what I'll be doing this Valentines, lol

Superb wearable first pieces, you should all be proud of yourselves...
I wonder who'll be first to post their second piece???

                            Nic xx
