  • Copper jewellery

    Hello
Can anyone tell me what to put on pieces of copper jewellery once i've polished them to stop them from tarnishing?
    Thanks!!

The copper beads and findings that I use have a laquer finish that inhinits tarnish. However, some people like the fact that skin contact with untreated copper is supposed to be helpful for suffers of arthtitis.

You could try clear nail varnish - it works as well as anything else.

Yup, nail varnish works fine but you can also buy a type of spray on laquer.

Any of the varnishes or lacquers will chip or wear off eventually. That's why so many copper findings are actually plated or enamelled. Renaissance Wax helps to an extent (as do any of the microcrystalline waxes).

I have to say I think copper is at its best when left to oxidise naturally - but it is very much a personal preference thing! If anyone wants to go back to the 'new penny' shine, diluted lemon juice with a bit of salt will do it in a matter of seconds.
