  • Help with a shell!

    Hi All,

I've just got back from a jolly holly in Jersey (very nice too - infact, when I win big on the lottery I'm moving there!!!) and have brought something interesting back.

Whilst strolling along a beach one day I found a piece of broken shell that looked ready shaped for a pendant. I'm not sure what kind of shell it is, but it's white'ish with a bit of pink and makes me think of a scallop? or the like.

Anyway, my question to you jewellery experts is ...would it be possible to attach a chain in some way? Would I need to drill a hole? If so how?

    Hope someone can help!

    Regards.

You could wrap wire around it, and then attach it to a chain.

Oh yes wire wrapping is fun. You just reminded me that i have some shells in my car from my Islay trip ages ago!

There is no reason to panic but the dust from shells is nasty if you breath it in so if you are drilling a hole put the shell in a shallow jar lid and just cover the shell with water and then drill.
