  • Help really stuck for ideas

i am trying to complete this order for the shop i am about 10 down 15 to go, the problem i have is that they have given me the choice of designs to send, its like trying to decide which child i love the most its impossible. I don't want to send a copy of all my current designs i would like to send a completely new one as well but i am really stuck for inspiration i think i must have some kind of crafters block or something what do all you guys do???

Ask yourself 'do the ironing, or design a new tiara'?
    I know which i'd pick!

        Contemplate

If I am feeling a bit stuck for ideas I gather all my components together and stare at them without thinking and an idea usually pops into my head.
I know that sounds a bit strange but it does happen, I wonder if anyone else does this?

That doesn't sound strange at all Chris - I often just stare at my beads for a while and then something pops into my head.

I often find as I'm working on one thing, I'll think of something else, so I seem to always end up with about 5 or 6 pieces on the go otherwise ideas pop back out of my head before I can get them down on paper or finish one piece to start another.

thanks everyone i think i have probably just been trying to hard these things need to come naturally i think, you know i did see, now this might sound strange, but i saw a massive spider web in my back garden which gave me a great idea for a tiara, but then i thought what bride would want a tiara that looked like a spiders web on her wedding day????

I know what you mean - but what could be more beautiful than a spiders web festooned with dew drops? Very organic design - I'd wear it! (If I ever needed to get married again!)

I pile all my fabric onto the dining room table and shuffle it about until inspiration strikes. Good luck - I'm sure you will come up with something gorgeous!

I usually find that inspiration strikes when I am tidying my supplies, I get to almost ultimate tidiness and then I have this sudden jolt of inspiration and it takes me 5 minutes to get back to the state the desk was in BEFORE I started tidying an hour ago!

Just shuffle everything around and see what happens!

If I am a bit short on inspiration I usually go away from my cards and do some ironing, cleaning or gardening. It soon inspires me start again on my cards!!! It makes me realise what I would rather be doing!!!!! Look at a few web sites selling jewellery to give yourself some inspiration or look at your beautiful tiaras and put a bit of this one, a bit of that one together and see what develops!!! This doesn't help a bit does it??????? Sue xx

One that likes all things gothic???? You know that idea isn't that silly - there's lots of goths out there! Have a go and see what you come up with.

I just googled and found a couple on this page but there's loads out there.

look at the "Ariadne" tiara, add some black, purple or red crystals and voila!

One day I will have a go at making tiaras.

I always end up with my working surface covered in all sorts of beads and findings which I just play around with until something strikes a chord. If nothing comes I leave it all go do something useful and come back with a coffee and start over.
