  • Calottes

Can anyone explain to me what callottes (sp?) are used for in jewellery making? Are they used to cover knots at the end of a necklaces etc or am I barking up completely the wrong tree? Sorry for being so ignorant and I know it's flipping obvious to anyone who actually makes jewellery.

Yes calottes, kinda like a skirt but actually a pair of shorts......

Used at the end of a necklace, you can thread your tiger tail through, crimp it, then close the calotte around it, or you could thread your nymo or other thread through, add a bead and go back through, the bead "anchors" the thread and you can keep going.

I have also used them on earrings, pm me for my design

Handy things calottes,,,,used to have a brown cord pair......god I'm showing my age now...lol...

Use the silver end too.......to be extra secure you can add a drop of clear glue before closing them.
