  • Inspired by the V&A jewellery collection

    Hello,
Saturday I've finally went to the V&A museum in London to see their new jewellery rooms. The collection is absolutely fantastic!
I highly recommend a visit. It's a wonderful way of getting some inspiration.
So I came up with these earrings. They are gold filled wire and ear hooks and a faceted drop aventurine bead.

Very pretty, you have alot of patience to make those.

I contacted the V&A to get some of my work in their gift shop.Funnily enough I never heard back.

Thats a bit of a downer!

Love those earrings, yeah would love to visit V+A again. Do you just wrap the wire with pliers freehand? I know that some ppl use a wire jig but i think u cold create the same by hand

Like the idea of using warm coloured aventurine too

Those earrings are beautiful. I'd love to see the collections at V&A. Another thing to add to my list of things I'd like to do at some point

They are very pretty. I like the way the wire is all rolled up like that!

They are gorgeous! I'd fancy some like that with a garnet coloured drop.

Thank you! I am really pleased with the result!

And I made the swirls by hand, no jig necessary. You need a bit of patience but it is not too difficult. Try experimenting with some cheap wire.

These are lovely...I really like the spirals.

I went to the V&A a few weeks ago but got there too late so I only managed to see the Supremes exhibition. This was excellent...it was great to see their sequined stage outfits...really ornate. I definitely have to get there earlier on in the day to have a good look around. Maybe I should not go shopping in the West End first!!
