  • Simple Beaded Bracelets

Hi All. Im new on here and new to jewellery making in general. I am looking for a pleasant way to help me relax and i love jewellery so thought i could combine the 2.
Basically i would like to know how to tie some sort of sliding knot at the end of a beaded bracelet - the type used in Lola Rose tumble bracelets if you are familiar with those?? Do you know the names of the knots so at least i know what to search for or direct me to a website which might explain how to tie them?

    Thanks

            Welcome to the forum!

They are def called sliding knots- I have a description in a book of mine 'hold the cords parallel and turn the end around on itself in a circle. from behind, put the end through the circle and pull tightly to make the knot'.

It is really easy to do but without a picture may be impossible!! I know I wouldnt have been able to do it without the pic. Hope this helps anyway. There must be something more on the internet - id google sliding knot.

That is a very neat knot Jayne, I have bookmarked that site for later, thanks.

The knots in the Lola rose bracelets look like a macramé square knot like this.

                http://www.elainecraft.com/instructi...tml#squareknot
                http://www.virtualmuseum.ca/Exhibiti...ontent/macrame
                /squareknot.html

You would lay the two bracelet ends next to each other making a circle and use a separate piece of cord for the knots. lay the second cord under both bracelet cords and make the knots from the front, then thread the ends of the second cord through the back of the knots to neaten when you have finished.
The knots have to be tight enough to hold the bracelet cords in position when they are pulled to close the bracelet.
                Hope this helps.
