Im i the only shmuck that never orders the right sizes for things? I think iv measured correctly but so far i have huge 5mm crimp covers and teeny sterling silver jump rings, toggle clasps and spacer beads.

I just can get it right! Im going to use the sterling silver stuff anyway. Does the size of toggle clasp really make a difference?

Nope, I do it all the time. Even when I get my handy tape measure out things still arrive and are half the size.

I always find a use for things but it is frustrating having to reorder stuff and then wait for the new package to arrive before you can get on with your projects.

I don't look at the size, it never occurs to me..... I ordered some lovely toggle clasps a few weeks ago and got the shock of my life when they were teeny!

See recent thread about buying stuff for the sake of buying stuff......

It is something wort considering though!

Nope - I reckon we've all done that at some point or another - sometimes you are pleasantly surprise and sometimes it goes in 'the stash'

I have exactly the same problem with wire...wirework isn't my strong point !
when I do get the right size wire I need I forget which size it was I ordered then I'm back to where I started
If I had enough brain cells I'd be dangerous !!

I also ordered some gold filled & sterling silver toggle clasps the other day and they are tiny!!!! Duh! I've put them in my 'to use later on' box.

Wire/chain sizes tip, make your own wire/chain guage!!
                1) Get a cans metal ring pull,
                2) Rub the sharp edges off with some sandpaper then punch a hole in the pull tab
3 Wire-wrap a piece of your left over wire or chain onto it
                4) Use permanent marker (or metal punches) to write wire guage onto it
                5) Slide tab top onto an old keyring
Voila you now have a home-made wire/chain guage...
This is very, very useful when you go to bead shops/shows as you
can tell whether your beads will fit onto your craft wire!!
                Also useful for re-ordering
