  • help with sanding-fimo-

    Hi everybody..
Can anyone help me out with some tips about sanding your clay pieces after baking?
I've tried with wet/dry sandpaper, probably a bit too coarse, and the results...disaster!I ruined the piece..
Today I tried with a very fine one,but..another disaster..
    What can I do?
    Any tips?
    Thanks!!
    xx ary

    Hi ARI,

Sorry to here about he trouble you're having with FIMO. Do you know which 'grit' paper you are using? There should be a number on the back of the paper, e.g. 600, 800, 1200.

I normally use 1200 wet 'n' dry, but never on cane designs, as the colours can seem to 'blend' into each other. Also, the beads do need to be 100% cool before the are sanded, I normally leave them 24 hours after baking to be on the safe side, especially with very large beads.

I hope that helps you a bit.

      Thanks Clair,
that helps a lot..my beads are usually cool when I try to sand them,
but the grit..I'm not sure about the number, but I believe it was around 480 or something (my first try-disaster).Today I used one my boyfriend gave to me and it's 1000....so I don't really know where's the catch..
