  • Fused Glass - What's It About

    Hi

I am traditionally used to making stuff from stained glass but seen lots of interesting items made from 'fused glass'

I don't really know anything about this but think it might be a handy addition to my stained glass stuff

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on what it is, if you need any spe******t equipment (high temp ovens and the like) and is it expensive to get into

    Thanks Alot

    Dave

Im intrigued by it too, I keep being wowed by all the things i see being made.
I think a basic oven is in the £100's, but thats all I know, its so tempting to start doing.

Fused glass is kinda like baking a cake! You layer up all your ingredients then you 'bake' it in a spe******ed oven. Does that make sense?! Yes, it is expensive to set up with a very small kiln starting £600+ for a good one. The glass isn't cheap to buy either and you need lots of that! There's also so much you can do with it and, if you're anything like me, you'll want every colour, type of glass and tool going! WARNING: Fused glass is highly addictive!

              Thanks for the info

Wish I hadn't sent my letter to Santa now asking for a Ferrari for Christmas!!!

              Nevermind.... sales season soon

Still interested though and have seen some second hand kilns on Ebay.

Perhaps look for some courses in the New Year
