I can crochet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mum was a super star and taught me briefly before she went out to the pub on Christmas eve so I practiced while they were out and this morning she taught me to go round corners!! It is still very uneven and dodgy looking but it's crochet!! Need to practise while we are in France and hopefully I will have something half decent to show you when we get back!

I can honestly say I'm impressed swirly!

I got my mum to show me so I could do some crocheted flowers, but as soon as she said "you do this with one hand and this with the other" I knew it was a waste of time me even trying. Too much like patting your head whilst rubbing your tummy for me!

I tried to look at the Ladybird book of crocheting and it was very confusing and not having looked carefully at a piece of crocheted work I wasn't quite sure how it worked - but I managed to do it! The bit I did is all pulled out now so I'm going to start afresh today

              Good for You.

If you are looking to make something really simple, but not the standard long scarf, why not try a bag.

Make a chain as wide as the bag you want and using whichever stitch you have mastered crochet a piece that is twice the depth of the bag you are looking for. Fold in half and sew sides together. Make a handle from material or another crocheted piece, very long and twice as wide as you want the handle. Again fold in half lengthwise stitch together and stitch onto the inside edges of the bag.

You can make this striped with oddments of wool of just one colour in a fancy wool. If the stitches are big then I would add a lining, but it makes a great beach or sports bag as is, and it is simple and makes up really quickly.

I think it is always better to see something you can use from your practicing and it encourages you to do more.

Enjoy and keep going, you will love it.

Nah - my mum and sister make the crocheted items in my Etsy shop which I've only just found out I must credit to them so that's what I will be doing in the new year. Hopefully I can get some of my stuff into their in a few months!
