  • How Crafty Does Your House Smell

My house is currently filled with the aroma of roast lamb (sorry vegetarians), but it did get me thinking about the aromas that give your crafting away.
Be it beeswax from the woodworkers and FO and essential oils from the soap and candlemakers or burning wood from the pyrographers, what does your house smell of?

Occasionally it smells of wood but the dead give away is the shavings that seem to fall out of my clothes when I come in. Fortunately we have wooden floors so easy to sweep up.

Doesn't seem to matter how much I disrobe in the conservatory (within reason!) I my good lady will always find bits of wood shavings that I bring in from the workshop.

Most of my smells (well the crafting ones at least) are outside in the workshop. The sad thing for woodworkers is that if you can smell the wood that you are using then you are not protecting your lungs from the harmful affects of the wood dust.

Mine sometime smells of jam making or chutney making or lavender, herbs and spices as they are drying out to be made into things either for food or for scented bags/hearts.
So many projects, so little time

I absolutely love the smell of wood, my grandad was a chippie who made practical and pretty things in his own time and the smell always reminds me of his shed

As a card maker I don't really have any giveaway smells although I remember getting quite high on all the spray adhesive I was using when making wedding invites

Mine usually smells of house. Quilling and sewing don't appear to create any obvious smells. Sometimes there is a baking smell, but otherwise nothing special.

Our 'spare' room aka the work room is full of boxes containing dried fruit eg, oranges, cinnamon, chillies etc so it smells of christmas all year round. No matter how tightly we seal the boxes the smell always percolates out and gets all over the house.

OMG, you made me laugh out loud!
Depends on the day and the craft. Sometimes it's bread smells, sometimes wood burning from pyrography, sometimes rotten eggs (liver of sulphur), sometimes glue from cardmaking.
                  nattynetty, I'm still laughing, thanks.
