  • Thick Ribbon and Buckles

    Hi,

This is probably a very silly question but does anyone have any tips or trick for threading buckles on to thick satin ribbon. I need to do a few and struggle to get a nice finish with the ribbon

    Thanks

Sounds to me as if the buckles aren't the right size for the ribbon, if you're having problems. Satin ribbon is silky-smooth and is usually only too happy to slide anywhere.

What sort of buckles, and is it good quality heavy double-faced ribbon?

I have the same issue when I thread a buckle onto satin headbands, the satin gets snagged.I cover the headband with cloth/tissues, slide the buckle over it into position then whip away the cloth/tissue.
Can you cover the ribbon as you thread it through?

Edit-I may have misunderstood. If you mean a nice finish like a rippled effect then maybe pre fold the ribbon and give it a quick iron in the place you want the buckle to sit.
