  • The humble loo roll middle....

After reading another post (about christmas crackers) I got to thinking about the millions of uses that people put loo rolls middles to.

My favourite use is advent calenders. but I've fdone all sorts with them over the years including creating nativity figareens.

So come on share your uses in our homage to the bog roll!!

    I'm a Philistine....

....all my loo roll middles get crushed and put into the recycling.

Although, I do have fond memories of making christmas crackers at primary school, with a lovely teacher called Mrs Frost. I'll never forget her, she had wonderfully creative ideas and every child loved making all the things. By gads, you didn't ever cross her, but she was a teacher with a vocation. We need more like Mrs Frost today.

    Ah....those were the days!

Our boys used to sellotape two together to make binoculars. Or binolocules as they were called.

Being unable to find a stand I liked for my jewellery, I made one out of the middle of a loo-roll, some bent wire, loads of tissue paper and some bamboo skewers...... after spending several hours on it, I realsied 2 things

          1. It looked horrendous (although it was the looking best loo-roll middle covered in black and silver paper with wire sticking out of it, I have ever seen)
          2. For less than £10 I could have just bought one of ebay

Oh well, I just like making stuff, I couldn't bear to throw it out for weeks, I put so much effort into it, however, clearing up one day, I decided it was time to go.....

My son has started keeping ours for his hampster to play/chew, the only problem is we go through loo roll in this house as though it's going out of fashion. He has got a tiny bedroom which is being overtaken by these loo rolls and he won't let me get rid of any.

When i was little we made:

              snowmen
              Santa's
              garage
barbie slides (cut them in half)
nearly all the furniture in my dolls/barbie house as i never had a proper one as a child and made my own out of boxes (even wall papered inside them)

Sure theres much more but can't remember now.

Sorry Swirly, no photos, it was so ugly, it would have broken my camera.... I am sure I threw it out.... how about I try to replicate it over the weekend and post a photo?

I once made an angel for the top of the christmas tree when i was at primary school. My mum kept it for years and years and it was always on top of the tree. Dont know where it is now though, cant remember if i have made anything else from them.

How funny ... I've only just read this thread and for the past 2 weeks Toby has been collecting our loo rolls to make a snake out of.

He's even got grandad (they live in the same street) posting them into our letter box!

It's going to be the biggest ruddy snake ever as there must be about 30 of them!

I shall have to read the other post.
