any of you make play kitchen stuff?

I'm on the hunt for play pots pans etc and wondered if any of the clever folk here produced any?

It's something I have never seen before, wooden pots and pans interesting concept. I would guess it would be relativly easy to turn a pot with a lid and a handle then attach it together but I really wouldn't like to hazard a guess at how well it would withstand a childs use. I could see child size chopping boards and maybe wooden trivets being relativly easy. The thing is there are so many plastic ones and even metal ones that are really cheap that wooden ones would look really expensive in comparison. If you get stuck I could have a go but in all honesty I wouldn't like the resposibility of making a child safe pot.

I have never seen any children's wooden kitchen pots and pans. The most likely place you might find some would be Ikea. Have a look at the children's kitchen items http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/ca.../series/11674/ to see if anything would be suitable. In the main kitchen section the only wooden items are a rolling pin http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/76485605/ and a 3pc utensil set http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70149328/, but they will probably be too big for little hands.

I have made 1/12th scale things before but the regulations are so stringent I wouldn't make anything as a toy. If I did I would have to list it as 'not being a toy' and ' not suitable for children.'

It is pretty sad the way this country is but I'm curiouse now you say your hob so are these possibly not for a child?

I find you tough woodsmen a tad wimpish. Of course you could turn childsized wooden vessels. Granted a pan with a handle might be a bit mad but dishes, pots with lids, casserole type handles would all be fine. The toy regulations are about can a small child pull a small part off and swallow it and choke. How long does it take a toy to turn into a flaming inferno (hands up here - I've never figured out how that applies to wooden toys. I think it was put in more to cover dolls cuddled by candlelight.) Sewmama - there is nothing to stop you commissioning what you want and you testing and self certificating. (It's all on the businessslink website in the Toys section.)

lol at "Tough Woodsmen" yea I guess when it comes to regulations and probably not known enough about them then you tend to err on the side of caution.
