  • Warrington Contemporary Film Screening Calls for Submissions!

    Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival will see the first Warrington Contemporary Film Screening held at Pyramid &Parr Hall on the 1st October 2011. The screening is open to all filmmakers working or living in the North West whether professional, amateur or student.

    We invite you to create new work or submit existing artwork that reflects the themes expressed in Warrington Museum& Art Gallery’s current exhibition ‘Inspired To…’. Imagery, colour and composition should inspire and communicate a message of one of the following themes; Journeys, Love, Music and Seasons.
    Submission: Only DVDs will be accepted for preview screening. All genres accepted and will be judged in the
    following categories.
    Shorts: 15 minutes

    Features: 20 minutes maximum

    Documentaries: 15 minutes maximum

    A fee of £5 per item submitted is payable, £2 for students/ unemployed/ retired. Proof of ID will be required.
    Fees are non refundable. Please make cheques payable to Python Art Gallery and write your contact details on the
    reverse. More than one entry may be submitted. Each entry must be accompanied by a separate entry form and entry
    Please do not send originals. If your film is not selected, it will not be returned unless you include a postage pre-paid return envelope with your application.
    Films must not have had major theatrical release or UK broadcast airing prior to the festival. Films must use original music. The selection team has the right to refuse work deemed to be offensive or inappropriate.

    Selection: Selection will be made and judged by the Contemporary Arts Festival Team.

    Entrants will be advised by post of the outcome of the selection. Please provide an A5 first class stamped selfaddressed envelope. No information will be given over the phone concerning the outcome of entry.
    If your film is selected, you will be asked to provide: headshot and filmography of director, stills from the film and a video trailer (if available).
    Format: DVDs must be labelled with the title, running time, and contact information.
    Insurance: All works entered should if required be insured by the artist against loss or damage whilst on the premises of Pyramid & Parr Hall. Pyramid & Parr Hall will not be held liable for any loss or damage to work. Filmmakers must have consent forms from all actors regarding image release to the Festival. An example copy can be obtained from Emma Kelly.
    Voted by the panel of Judges: Best Film, Best Director, Best original screenplay and Best original score.
    Audience Award: Best Film

    Entries Close: 12th August 2011
    Film makers advised of selection: 2nd September 2011
    Festival runs: 24th September to the 29th October 2011
    Film Screening: 1st October 2011
