I also love charity shops, there are a lot by me but it tends to be just clothes which is a shame, well done on the loom, would have been rude not to for that price! Give one a go its amazing what people don't want anymore, unwanted craft gifts etc. As they say 'someones trash is someones treasure'

My best find was last year, I picked up bits of costume jewellery from various stalls, one piece was a small brooch with a letter A on it, didn't have my glasses on at the time but thought it looked nice, when I got home and looked at all my bits and bobs, I noticed that the brooch with the letter A was marked on the back 9ct gold, I couldn't believe my eyes, as I only paid 20p for it! I sold it a few weeks later for £30, turned out it was an Avon highest honour brooch awarded to Avon reps with many years service, and was made from 9ct gold and seed pearls. I also have to say that up to now, that has been my best find, but onwards and upwards !!! so don't give up out there keep [email protected]@king.

I want to go where you go, I've never found anything worth having at car boot sales, we have a really big one near us once a fortnight which we visited last week - just people selling all their old tat, kids toys and clothes. I did buy some fresh veg though so was pleased with that (easily pleased me) and of course a mr whippy ice cream....is it wrong that that was my weekend highlight?

I'm going to keep an eye out for old jewellery next time but I have a sneaky feeling the professional car booters get there when it first opens to buy up anything worth having.

I went to one in Seaham on Sunday, First timer, and was stunned at the size of it.
I got a brand new pair of lined curtains for £2.50. So pretty with sequins on them, tie backs too.
I got a second hand pair of Binoculars for £2.00, for my twitching LOL! much smaller and lighter than my old ones.
A garden flowers expert book for 20p. Yup lots of junk. but bargains to be found too.
It was a lovely sunny warm day to boot haha! BOOT.. get it?
I will defo be doing it again soon. There were lovely garden ornaments right at the beginning, I thought i would go back for, along with several heavy items, which i never had time to go back for sob! A beautiful brass Candelabra for £4.00 ? awww!! I did want it too.
I am new to this game though.
Maybe i can find one next time.

You're right, quite a lot of tat, but, have a rummidge through little boxes of broken jewellery etc, not the obvious pieces that are on full show, thats where I found my brooch, and it was mid afternoon, so not all the eagle eyed dealers who go early are always the lucky ones! I have had a few nice bits of Silver jewellery too, I think I'm a bit of a magpie, as I love anything shiny, Glassware, mirrors etc. As I said before don't give up keep [email protected]@king!

I'm usually working on Sundays so I miss all the good car boot sales, but I do love them.

When I lived in Scotland, we found an old oil painting underneath a stall and bought it for £5. It was dirty and the frame was damaged. We fixed the frame and my friend (who knew what he was doing) cleaned the painting. We put it on eBay with a starting price of £7 and it sold for £107!

Another time I bought a single vertebrae of a Minke Whale for £8 and sold it on eBay for £143.

We had several other successes in varying degrees, but those two were the best.

Did anybody watch DIY SOS tonight.
The parents featured had 3 girls and they had an amazing idea of buying cheap pictures from charity shops and painting over the bits that looked dull.
So white flowers became neon pink, pastel dresses became deep blue or whatever you choose.
                          Such a great idea!!
Do any of you already do this with the kids?

I've never been to a boot sale. I've not got the patience to rummage around and find the one bargain at the bottom of the pile!

I love them but haven't been to one for a couple of years. Got a working industrial drill at one for £1 and loads of records when I used to collect music. Also being a bibliophile they were a treasure house for me. LOL
