  • Which Gift Upgrade Option Wouldyou prefer as a customer?

Getting a bit stuck on how to do an optional gift pack

Here's the 3 options I have thought of:

    Add as an upgrade:http://goblindreams.me.uk/shopgob/pr...ile-Charm.html
Full Package - select which door:http://goblindreams.me.uk/shopgob/pr...ile-Charm.html
    Add onto Item:http://goblindreams.me.uk/shopgob/pr...erie-Door.html

General View seems to be Full Package or add onto item. Problem with Full Package is they get no option of colour of door fixings, and it'll be a bugger if I run out of stock to change it
Problem with Add onto item is will ahve to add postage onto giftpack price, and they will have to select an option for each item (would this be annoying?)..

Let me know what you think? Want to get this up and running as soon as possible.

I like the add on one (the last) as it feels as though I'm getting exactly what I choose and I'm fully aware of what I can choose. I know that the other options also give you that too but this seems easier for me.

I have been thinking about this and there is another option - it is a bit long winded to set up but once it is done you won't have to do it again unless you need to change the pricing of the options.

OK, you have one product option drop down box for each of your doors - in that it has each colour option listed twice, once as the door alone and once with the gift box and the extra postage added to the standard £3 extra. This way, you can calculate the exact amount extra for each door and if someone orders two then they add two extra postages on, etc. You will end up with quite a few product options in this section of your design pages but if you call each one by the name of the door they are easy to find and amend if you need to.

Don't know if this will work completely when it comes to postage bands but you shouldn't lose out too much and may even end up in pocket.

Alternatively, have you e-mailed Create support to check if there is any way of adding a weight calculation to product options.

        Hope this helps.

Thanks,TBH I think I'm just being fussy - the weight isn't a problem, it's just the packaging sent in costs more. I think I'll not worry about it for now, and if necessary I can put price up on Gift Pack ..

Incorporate the additional postage and packaging in your gift pack price. You can amend each gift pack option (I noticed you have two versions on your drop down list) to show the extra each one will cost you. I don't know how you have set up your postage but there are various options of how you want - banded by weight or total order value, fixed amount per item or fixed per order. Work out which you think will keep the costings in your benefit the most and go with that.

On my site I have a fixed price per order - if someone orders lots then they will still only pay the £1 postage. Sometimes it means I take a hit on the postage/PayPal charges but often this covers both. To be honest if someone is ordering lots, I don't mind spending a bit on the postage.

Don't forget you can always change things if you find it isn't working out how you want. One of the benefits of Create I have found is that it is really quick and easy to make amendments afterwards.

            Good luck.
