  • ATC/ACEO/Altered art

Whats the difference between all of them - is it the size? I've been playing around tonight and made some altered art but I'm not sure how to describe it. looking on Etsy has just left me confused
    Thanks!

    Hi Swirly,
As far as I am concerned an ATC is an Artist Trading Card which is a small card with your art work on that you swap with other crafters/artists
Altered art is an item say like a note pad or a plain box that you have covered with fabric, paper whatever and added embellishments etc to 'alter' it's original look in an artistic way!
The other one..I have no idea!
That's got you started and I sure someone who know more about stuff will come along and tell all!!

      hi
the ATC - Artist Trading Cards - has 2 rules - firstly it should measure 2 1/2" x 3", and secondly it should be given or exchanged not sold! Many artists use them like business cards at conventions and exhibitions etc to showcase thier style. Over the last few years they have become more popular.

Not sure what ACEO stands for but know that there is a growing trend of altering postcards and also the latest is the "inchies" - literally one inch squares!!

The great thing about them is anything goes - any tecnique, style, embellishment - whatever you want!!

As for altered art - take anything you like and add anything you like and you've altered it!! Books, board books, clipboards, frames, tins etc etc etc

      Hope that helps a little!!

Right - got it! ATC - as Funkyhand said - is an Artist Trading Card and you don't tend to sell them - hence the word trading in there! An ACEO stands for Art Card Editions and Originals and is sold. They are very strict on the measurements and measure 2.5 x 3.5 inches. Altered art is as heidi said and is anything that is altered!!
Right well I'm glad that's cleared up!!
