  • Bead shop....in a pub!

Just coming home from work this morning and passed this pub (near dudley) and did a double take, yes a licenced pub and cafe open from 11am to 11pm that sells beads! Just had a look on the website and its a large pub with quite a large stock of all things beady! wow, lol, i can feel a visit coming on, best stay away from the booze though me, alcohol and beads don't get along!

Now that is what I call 'thinking outside of the box'!!

Good luck to them - I love it when people try something a little different, we all need to be creatively creative in these harder times!!

I think you will begin to see more of this in the recession, people trying to earn a living by diversifying. Similar to the 60's when boutiques where opened in peoples homes, the Kings Road was renowned for this type of selling and where Mary Quant started out from her kitchen table.

Must admit the alcohol bit and beads could be quite dangerous and hope the A & E is local to extract beads put up noses and down ears, lol

Like all businesses, pubs are having to diversify these days.

We sell our soaps to a pub that has a small craft shop in there, he does a roaring trade when people have had a drink;-)

Like the big boys who have "sale" preview evenings and offer wine and nibbles, they k now that customers spend more easily when they have had a drink.

I would call in in the morning, you will be less likely to spend too much.

              Cool! Thats a first!

If it's local to you maybe you could have a word about doing a demo evening? Or selling some of your items there? Could be more business for them and you!

My friend sells her clothes at her local pub once a month, the landlord is a friend of theirs and it can bring extra people in.

I think it's a great idea, but I would not want to try any wire wrapping after a few drinks!

I see them quite a lot at at bead shows. I think it's a great gimmick, they say the women go in to buy the beads and the men can have a pint or two while they're waiting. Also quite a lot of people go for a meal before bead buying.

                        Hi all

This pub/bead shop is about 5 minutes away from me and I regularly use it! They have all sorts of beads and findings in there - it's like an aladdin's cave! There is all sorts from acrylic to crystals, shell beads to ceramic and and i'm sure every time I go they have more new stuff there!

The owner is really friendly and will often stop and have a chat with you - if she's not off sourcing more new supplies that is!

Definitely worth a visit, prices are reasonable too. Just make sure you allow plenty of time! If you still need convincing then take a look at www.thepearlgirl.co.uk

                        Happy shopping!

aaaah The Pearl Girl. She does a LOT of the bead fairs, she's been selling for years. She's got some lovely stuff indeed.

I'm creating an area for husbands in the shop when we move next month, but it'll be tea and coffe though LOL
