  • The Power of Twitter

This morning I got an email from a customer thanking me for an item - then she went on to say she found my website through a tweet I'd sent to Duncan Bannatyne!

I've also discovered from looking at my blog stats today that my biggest referrer (after the search engines) is Twitter. It's way ahead of anywhere else.

So if you're unsure about what Twitter can do - give it a go! I've been on there for 12 months now and found that it's more useful the more you use it and the more followers you have.

    Really?

I'm surprised about this. Don't really get Twitter to be honest - have you installed google analytics to see that Twitter is your number one way of referral?

You really need to start using it quite a lot to actually "get" it - and the benefits.

Yes, I have Google analytics, wordpress stats and another one from aw stats (on my website). And yes, Twitter is definitely the biggest referrer after Google et al. I do tweet quite a bit as I work from home and it's a way of connecting to others. I don't over-promote, but I do tweet links to my website and blog occasionally.

I had a tweet from someone this morning about how Twitter had saved the day at a big trade fair when one particular area was left off the show guide - customers were only finding them because of Twitter, which was interesting to say the least!

I honestly couldn't recommend it highly enough!

Wendy, it's great to hear such positive feedback on the business benefits of Twitter... as you know we also use Twitter quite a bit, interacting with other home workers, friends, etc as well as promoting our new products, etc.

We have had quite a few orders placed either through Twitter for commission pieces or through our own site/Folksy as a result of people finding us on Twitter so I agree that it is a very good marketing tool.

I think the most important thing on there though is to find a good balance between social interaction and self promotion... people who do nothing but post links are really irritating.

Well done you Wendy. I love your crafts. I have a big soft spot for the "New England" style. I'm on twitter but like a couple of the others above I don't really get it!
