hi im doing a summer fete on saturday ,thought i would try it before i start with the craft fairs and quite nervous ,wondered if anyone has ever done one and how they got on xxxx

You'll be fine.
My tips would be - allow yourself an hour to set up your stall.
If you want to, have a practise laying out your table at home, so you get the best look, and can just do it again at the fair, without thinking.
Think how are you going to carry your stuff into the fair. Sometimes you can end up with quite a shelp from the parking to the hall.
Have you got price tags on everything?
Take a pile of change. Expect customers to buy a 50p thing with a £20 note - a lot of times!
I take a flask of coffee and sandwiches. There's usually? always? food and drink available but a. I'm mean and try to go to make money and not spend it (ooooo that's so hard) and b. if you are alone you do get rather stuck behind your stall.
For your first fair, wing it and relax and enjoy.
I take a note book and jot down ideas that come to me as I talk with customers or pinch ideas from other stall holders. If you get the bug you can change things for your second fair.

Yes its a good idea to do lots of these cheap shows to gain experiece and you can do well at them. As you go on you will discover what you need to be successful.

thankyou both ,the fete is actually on the field backed onto my mums bungalow so we can just take things straight from hers to the field which is good ,i forgot about the change thing will sort that ,this fete is to gain more experience at this sort of thing so fingers crossed weather is good and we do ok ,thanks sue

Is it a school fete? I have found at school fairs that I have a different market, so have a think about who your audience is and you can display more of your items that are aimed at mums and children if it is a school fete Hope it goes really well!!!

hi its a local community centre fete ,i think i have done that iv made some slightly different things to what i will be making for the craft fairs ,smaller less expensive things ,just to test them out really ,but im looking forward to the craft fairs to make more unusual things that take longer ,thanks for your wishes xx

Ah...selling in fields.
Watch the weather forecast.
If rain is forecast pop down to B &Q or similar and buy some lightweight plastic sheeting. Not good for much - except covering your stuff when it rains and you can still see it.
Or the ultimate in lazy selling. Keep everything in see through plastic boxes. Sun = take the lids off. Rain = put the lids back on.
Wind: acquire bricks? to hold everything down. Or do the lid thing.
Snow: I hope not!
Sun: a hat and sunblock - seriously - you are out there a long time.
