  • Acrylic paints??

I used these for the first time last week on some ATC's and I noticed whilst they were drying that they smelled a bit strange. I was packing them up for a swap earlier today and noticed they still pong a bit, just wondered if they're supposed to smell a bit odd?

They're not top quality as I only bought them to have a play with..

TIA if anybody can let me know

I have used both very cheap acrylics and stock really good ones, and have never known them to have a smell. Is it just one colour or all of them? If you have recently purchased them, I would suggest that you take them back to where you got them from as it doesn't sound right to me.

I use plenty of acrylic paint and have never known it to smell. I agree that you should return the paints as it sounds like they aren't right.

        Hi All.

I to use a lot of paints, I do a lot of plaster cast moulding & use all kinds of acrylic paints & I have never had any that smell in any way shape or form. I think you may have a problem there. Keep them in some open space that is well vented.

Enjoy experimenting with what you are doing.

Have to agree with everyone else - I have about 300 bottles of acrylics and they don't smell at all.

I would have to agree with everyone else that I have never had acrylic paints that smell - oil paints yes but not acrylic.

              Thanks for the help everyone

How strange?! As I said they weren't too expensive so will chuck them and buy some more as I really enjoyed using them.
