  • Postage!!!!

Just went to do an experiment.
I put my chosen size give box in an approprately sized jify bag(around 25x20cm) with a necklace and a couple of other items Id made in the box.
My main point is to see how its going to look when it gets back to me, will it be crushed etc but the charge had gone up in a major way!!

Id been in previously with very similar set up,box, jiffy and weighed the box down more than I thought necessary, it cost £1.09 first class.
Just now it went up to £1.38!!!

    Ecky thump!

    Golly...

I was seriously thinking of doing 'free postage' in the UK when i've sorted the website as i think postage charges put people off, hmmm... might still do it but maybe put a teeny bit extra on the jewellery to start with to compensate..
Be interested to know what state your parcel arrives in!!

      Il let you know.

I agree, I buy off one site that has free P+P and it so nice to know that the prices im adding up per items comes to the total Im going to pay in the end.

Thing is Im worried people arnt going to pay the prices I already have on my jewellery.Im hardly making a profit as it is.I would love to give free P+P but I love money more, mwohahaha.

Don't get me started on postage it's a sore point with me at the mo!! I had a trade order go missing in the royal mail post and I have had to send all the goods again, I wanted to make sure that it definately got there this time so I sent it special delivery.. it cost me £19.45!! The original package which I sent first class was £8.99 pretty hefty postage costs and there is no guarantee that I will get my original package back..even though it had a return address on it. Grrr I was not a happy bunny yesterday but I did learn a lesson never send high cost goods without getting them to be signed for!

Hmmm, out of nosyness what are your price ranges? my stuff ranges from 5-15.00 it's all just costume jewellery though, silver plated findings apart from earings which are sterling silver. I don't use any precious or semi precious stuff but may branch out into it in the future when i know more about it.
I do make a profit, i usually at least double what it's cost me to make the item in materials but i find it difficult to then cost in the time.

That is a BIG leap!!I bet you were annoyed!!

Seems its a vicious circle, pay extra to cover the goods or losing money on lost expensive goods.

Thing that pees me right off is that the service hasnt improved yet the charges go up!

I just got stung at the post office today. I gave someone a quote for postage last week and standard delivery was £7.24. Made the candles, sent the order away and it has jumped to £8.24 - highway robbery they should wear a mask!!!

How funny, I’m going to try this too I think. Might wait till I’m on holiday in Devon so it has further to travel back.
I do always wonder what my items arrive like! I always take such care to get them to the post office, then they just shove them into a big bag with no respect! How dare they! Do they not know how long it has taken me to do them!!

Have you had problems with 'crushed' items then?

Got my package back today, cant complain about time.
No bangs or squishes in the box.

Only thing was that the cotton padding was a bit dishevelle but suppose thats gonna happen anyhoo.
