  • Handmade pledge

I have decided that any gifts I am going to get from now on will either be made by myself or be purchased by other artists, crafters and designers. No more High Street for me.

What's even better is that I have also convinced a non-craft friend to do the same. She just informed me that she has made all her purchases on Folksy!

    Yay

    May the handmade revolution begin......

I pledge too that all my christmas pressies will be either handmade by me, or from other handmade crafts people.

      Good plan

      Hi,

Think this is a great plan. More support for the small crafters is needed! We could all post on here with our website details to give everyone a great list of sites to look at for Christmas pressies!

Excellent idea. We have picked up a few pieces on Etsy and also done a trade with someone so not only did we get some handmade presents for someone we were able to 'barter' our handmade work for them,. If anyone wants to do that I am definitely open. to it

          Hand made pledge

I pledged to do this sometime ago, i personally think any kind of handmade gift is the way forward! By the way, if anyone isn't aware there's a site dedicated to doing just that - www.buyhandmade.org You actually make a pledge to buy handmade and get a pledge number for doing it! The site also allows you to add your own website and you can place a banner on your site/blog etc........

Hand made pledge is fab idea

I so agree - this christmas will be a unique christmas present wise with no more 'I've already got that' presents done 8,000 times over.

Until you look for craft items you have no idea how many talented people there I think.

              What a brilliant idea!
I pledge this for Christmas too - all gifts I buy will be handmade either by me or others. I was already planning on giving everyone I know some kind of glass painted good!

This is a fab idea. I pledge to do the same thing too...I will be making as many gifts for others as i can, and buy handmade for everybody else, (with the exception of my OH, who's terrible to buy gifts for)

What a fantastic idea, I will try my upmost for all Xmas presents to be handmade. We should all be looking on each others websites and making purchases or requests! Prices are not on our website yet as it is still under construction but I will consider any sensilble offer!

What a great idea. I see jewellery and knitted things for the ladies/girls, but what on earth do you do for men/boys. I slaved over an aran jumper last Christmas for MOH and now he says its too big.

                          Any ideas would be appreciated.

I do try to do this most years but sadly there are some in this world that look down their noses at handmade. Don't ask me why. It can only be ignorance but if it hasn't got a High Street label they are not interested. What a mercenry time we live in. I LOVE HANDMADE and would be eternally grateful for any gift that someone has put time and energy into it.
As you probably guessed by this, I have been knocked back a couple to times. Ah well, heyho, I have now crossed them off my Christmas list.
