  • Work has taken over work.

I may have mentioned this before but for those who dont know, Im a receptionist at an independant computer maintenance company.
I do about half an hours work a day for here.
The rest of the time I have to entertain myself. That can sometimes be 8 and a half hours worth.

So I started making jewellery/doing craft.

I have got to the point were Im thinking more about my jewellery ventures than my 'proper' job!!
My boss just asked me to order something and he had to go through it about 3 times and it still didnt sink in!
I just dont want to think about my full time job when I can think about jewellery!!

    Anybody else getting that way?

Oh I know what you mean. But lucky for me it is my full time job! When I say full time I mean it..I start as soon as I get up and the computer stays on until I go to bed (usually after midnight) I work Sat and Sunday as well. People order stuff and contact me all times of the day and they expect to get it delivered or a response to their queries straight away! It's the most 'full time' job I have ever had, and I used to be in middle management, traveling and working all hours!!! I love it though!!

Am I reading this wrong - you work for half an hour a day??? How does that work then?

I work full time too (although have this week off!!!) and it seems I never stop since starting my crafts. When I'm not working I'm crafting! I really enjoy it but have to slow down sometimes because it turns into a chore, especially with craft fairs coming up which makes me panic that I need to build up as much stock as I can. Plus I keep getting new ideas which means more time needed on my crafts!!! I wish I could do crafts full time but it would mean selling my house and moving into my tent so not really an option! Maybe one day when I am mortgage free (quite a wait then!)

Its spread out through a normal working day.Its a small independant company so really they just need someone here if hotels/flights need to be booked, information needs to be given like contact names/numbers, orders need to be made/chased etc.
Basically Im a dogs body but they cant live without me, hoho.I have 6 hours worth of lunches that have built up over the last few days as an example of them needing someone to be here as everyone else is out working.

When I say half an hour its say, a number of 20 second phone calls that add up over time.
It varies, sometimes i can be busy for a couple of hours in a go, other times the phone wont go for an hour!

Me too....but somehow you don't mind working those long hours if it's for your own business

Now if i was still employed and my boss told me I had to work weekends and past midnight most nights you can guess where I'd tell him to stick it

To right Natty, if my old Boss had asked me to do the hours I do now I would have given in my notice... hold on..thats practically what happened!!!!

I am glad that I am surrounded with hard working crafty nutters like myself, makes me feel like I am a bit normal!!
