  • Oh dear

My sewing machine is playing up and I need it fixed fast - I feel like I've cut my arm off. Does anyone know of a reliable repair company, preferably one who will visit at home or is near to Grantham in Lincolnshire?

    Thanks for your help

Oh good luck, we struggled to find a repairer near us.. ended up going to manchester.. when I was a kid there seemed to be a service centre/repairer in most large towns somewhere.. another dying service perhaps..

Hello yes I have got a short list here but just thought I would check it out with the forum before I contact anyone to see whether anyone has a contact who is particularly good or any I should avoid that sort of thing.

I don't know how old your machine is but... when my embroidery machine went haywire I contacted brother directly - even though my warrantee (duh can't spell) had run out - they sent me a free postage label and offered to have a look at it for free!!!

Blimey maybe I should have bought a Brother machine then! I've got a Singer and its only a month old (Pressie from my lovely hubby), I spoke to a sweet man in Lincoln who said he'd be happy to look at it sounds like a timing problem and will cost £59 + VAt to fix - ouch!!! He advised me to contact the people we bought it from and get them to sort it out - hmmm didn't know who they were cos it was a pressie and hubbies in the USA! Finally found out this afternoon who he bought it from and it is costing me £20 to post it to them so they can take a look at it in their workshop - boooo! Now I can't do any sewing and I'm soooo frustrated, good job hubbies not here - lol!

If it's only a month old isn't there some kind of warantee on it? If so it should surely be done at their expense including postage.
