  • Chocolate

Has anyone had any chocolate recently? Odd question I know but I'm looking for sweet wrappers that are purely plastic - not foiled plastic - if you know what I mean. I would be very grateful if you could look when you next have some chocolate and post on here. I would obviously be willing to research all known brands of chocolate myself but that might not be to good for my waistline

      QS & Roses...

We got both...our elderly neighbour's daughter buys them for her every year, even though she knows her mum is diabetic. My neighbour says her daughter is trying to kill her...I think she's joking......

They used to have a foil bit covered with cellophane, but they now seem to be a silver plastic inside - not what I call foil. And also the plastic isn't nice & clear, it has Roses or whatever printed on it.

Is it coloured cellophane you're after?

It's wrappers that I'm after really and I don't actually need people to send it to me - I just need you to tell me if it is 'proper' plastic or plasticised foil. Flakes used to be in plastic wrappers but they are now in a plasticy foil - I just want to know which bars come in plastic wrappers. I'm shrinking them in the oven you see - schoolgirl crafting!

          I used to do that...

.....with crisp bags, years and years ago.

I don't think any choccy bars come in cellophane now. Cellophane isn't very 'eco' to produce. I'm not sure that the plasticky foil is either, mind you.

Lots of childrens sweets come in shrinkable plastic but walkers crisp packets don't shrink. I've bought some malteasers (purely for research!!) and I'm going to see if they shrink tonight.

              Research

Of course it is, I believe you....honestly, I do.

Research can take years......I mean, look at researchers, they do it for a living.......

I like your advice!!! I will obviously have to carry out extensive research to ensure that the make up of the plastic used doesn't change and I can't waste the chocolate now can I????

As one who has just put the third empty tin of Quality Street since Xmas to bed, I can assure you that a lot of 'em have seperated plastic wrappers! If only you'd said about 2 stones ago!

You just have to admire them.....

Absolutely no thought to their own personal health or safety *sigh* they are just so committed.

.................and all without a safety net - have you ever seen a fully formed middle aged stomach hit the ground from 3 feet? Not pretty.

Hee hee - this thread is turning out to be quite funny!!
Malteaser wrappers don't shrink properly in the oven but I obviously I had to try it a few times to ensure that the research wasn't biased!
