  • if you care about the loss of traditional craft skills read this

One of the reasons for the loss of craft skills has been the lack of an organisation to campaign for their cause, to spot endangered crafts and step in to make sure they get passed on to the next generation.

    Have a look here www.heritagecrafts.org.uk

The Heritage Crafts Association has been set up by a group of craftspeople and others passionate about the loss of crafts skills. Everyone who cares about the loss of these skills can make a difference, simply by telling other people about the website, by signing up to the facebook group here http://www.facebook.com/pages/Herita...1534812?ref=mf
or signing up as a supporter (it's free) here http://www.heritagecrafts.org.uk/signup.html

I hope you will consider joining this campaign to stop the loss of traditional craft skills.

I've joined the facebook page. It's really sad to hear about losses of traditional crafts.

Thanks both, just over 12 hours and we have over 50 people signed up on the HCA website and 35 members of the facebook group. At that rate in a year we would be over 13,000 which would give us real lobbying power to make a difference. Thanks for your help.

              Good question,

We are open to anyone from anywhere who believes saving traditional skills is a good thing joining and already have a number of folks signed up from the US for instance. We are primarily an advocacy organisation...that is campaigning to create the conditions in which these skills can survive and flourish and our advocacy role is UK wide. Unfortunatley due to the way funding organisations and the rest of the heritage industry is set up in Scotlamnd, Wales and NI we are limited to only advocacy and lobbying and any financial support training schemes etc will have to be England only at this stage.

                    Thanks Diane and Carla,

It is really taking off better than we could possibly have hoped so we really appreciate the support.
