Hi everyone, not been on for a while. My wife Julie has finally found something she can put her artistic talent to without hurting her hands. If you would like to take a look at only her second doll here is the link to her first one for sale on Ebay. She would love some feedback from you all.

Yeah, me too! It must take an incredible amount of patience to get that right!

Good grief! That's amazing. The fact that the photos are extreme close-ups just shows how fantastic your wife's work is. How long does it take to make one?

Creepy is the word.. - actually as a doll it is amazing and all credit to those who make them, but what scares me is the "purpose".. I find the whole idea of these "surrogate" children - be they pets or dolls disconcerting to say the least (yes there is irony in a username of "sparkysdad" for that reason!)

Well I think it's beautiful, I understand what you are all saying but I could see that it might give comfort to people who have lost a baby and just need to hold something.

For me it just makes me broody!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that's exactly what worries me.. that somebody transfers their grief and sadness to a toy rather than get the help they need to deal with the real world

I saw some (admittedly possibly quite extreme) women who spend fortunes on baby clothes and accessories for their rubber surrogates, and even walk them in prams and pushchairs.. I don't see this as "normal" behaviour..

speaking as someone who lost a newborn I couldn't have one of these.

I agree with sparky to treat a doll as a baby is not normal behaviour

So sorry about your baby, it is devastating to lose a child that you have carried for 9 months.

I think these reborn dolls are amazing when they are done well (like this one), they are so life like and truly a work of art, but I do agree, what exactly is their purpose?

Don't get me wrong, I think the doll is amazing and the time and talent that has gone into making it is amazing

Each to their own , we all desire different things for different reasons, personally I choose to avoid these kind of dolls as I can't cope with the way they make me feel
