    Hi

    Its driving me mad

I am just about to start setting up my website but im having trouble deciding on the web address. I make hamdmade cards & wedding stationery.

    What do you think of haivng a - in the website address for example I mean;

    www.handmadewithlove-bysara.co.uk

    www.madewithlove-bysara.co.uk

    or

    www.creationoflove-bysara.co.uk

I want to incorparate my name in the web site which one of the above do you like. More I think about it the more confused I get.

    thanks in advance

    Hi

Make it short and memorable - I have just spent 1/2 trying to google a company, which I have used before, but they have a long obscure name - I gave up in the end.

I would definitely avoid using a hyphen - they're always impossible to remember, and hard to read out as well!

            Not done me any harm

people google just soaps and they find me

If I was greannancraftswithlovehandmadesoaps.co.uk it is not memorable and they wouldn't find me.

OK. I'm going to give 2 answers - a techie one (which will be a partial lie), and a marketing one.

Techie: Don't worry about the "SEO" impact of your chosen domain name. It doesn't matter. (This is a lie - it has some impact, however, in the grand scheme of things, really do not worry about this).

Marketing: Pick something memorable. It doesn't have to be short, but it has to be logical to spell, and needs to stick in peoples minds!

Yes, I'd say get the business name right. I google the name of who ever I'm looking for then click on the search page - or put them in favourites - so I'm doing the minimum of typing or clicking. I can't remember the last time I typed out the www.address of anyone.

with regards to the above post.

if you are going through Mr site, you don't need to purchase the domain name as it's included in the price of Mr site.

The price quoted in the post is the price charged by one particular domain host and others may charge different amounts.
