  • Antique fair finds

Im so glad I went to the local monthly antique fair yesterday.
I was getting a bit fed up of not finding anything but I almost immediately found a pear shaped drop multi faceted crystal, about 3cm big, with a threading hole all in good condition, so bought that for a pound.
Then I found a new postcard stall, there were hundreds, I had a quick look through the theatre section but couldnt handle going through them all.
Went round all other stalls again, then took a deep breath and thought I may as well have a look at all the theatre cards while i was there.
I went through about edwardian 150 cards, putting aside about 20.They were £1+ each so I had to round them down, in the end i bought 4, as they all had something special about them.
One was of a 1930's dancer in an extreme ballet pose, another of a very regal lady in fabulous white featherd headdress and pearled white dress.
2 were of actres Gabrielle Ray, one with her balancing a crystal ball on the back of her hand and another of her as a fairy, complete with wings.
I snapped them up.I hope to use them at some point instead of just adding them to my ever increasing card collection.

Did any of you buy anything crafty this weekend?

Ooohh - I haven't been to an antiques fair for ages - sounds like you got some great stuff! Have you tried auctions? I got lots of cigarette cards and some postcards from our local auction very cheaply - I haven't been for ages though as I always buy loads of stuff that I don't really need!
I didn't buy anything crafty but my hubby tidied up my craft room so I can now see where most of my stuff is so I might be in there tonight when the gilrs have gone to bed - exciting life I lead!

Fab, haven't been to an atique fair or auction for ages but love them when I do! Didn;t buy anything crafty either this weekend, but also ended up tidying my craft room up through default!! My husband had built my workbench etc in the room for me, and this weekend it decided to collapse, with my fret saw, tubs of toppers and embellishments, pots of paint, water pot with brushes and some bits i was working on all crashed onto the floor in a big messy pile!!! Luckily I was on the other side of the room putting some other bits out to dry, otherwise would have all collapsed on my legs!! But weren't too many casualties, had a large order for some childrens name plaques which I had just moved to dry, otherwise there would have been bloodshed!!! Turns out he had forgotten to fix the bench to the wall and just the steel leg was holding it up, obviously the vibrations from the saw had been slowly moving it! Oh well, have a nice tidy craft roiom now and can see where everything is ... but how long will that last!!!!!

Hehe, thats why I like craft as a hobby, I can make stuff whilst watching TV.
Unfortunately I cant have a TV on whilst doing proper work but hopefully one day craft will be my proper work and I can watch all the TV I like!!!

Me too - I have an old autograph book that I got in a shop in London that's full of really sweet sentiments and lovely hand drawn pictures - it's from the 1890's onwards and it is fab - in fact I'm off to have another look at it now!!
