  • I've lost my mojo

I didn't do any crafting over Christmas, didn't really get the chance and it was nice to take a break after making zillions of Christmas cards, apart from making a couple more beaded crocodiles, which I did whilst watching telly.

I had a few crafty items for Christmas & I've bought some stuff in the sales & everytime I get something I think oooh, I'll go & make a so & so, but just don't & I don't know why. I've got two lovely stamps I want to make cards with, I also want to do some more memory wire bracelets and I've got everything I need to do them, but I just keep putting it off.

I haven't updated my website in ages, I need to take the Christmas section off & get some more stuff on there, but I keep putting that off too!

I don't know why, I wonder if in the back of my mind I kinda feel well I'm not going to sell anything now - what's the point. It's all gone a bit flat, no fairs booked up & the one I'm thinking about in March, I'm talking myself out of as I think it'll be "proper" crafts, and my cards & jewellery just won't be good enough.

I haven't really got anyone I could ask to do a party for me & I'm just can't see where my sales are going to come from

Oh, I didn't mean to turn this into a poor me thread, I'm just feeling a bit down & normally crafting is my de-stress & relaxation but I just can't seem to get back into it and not sure what to do?

poor you, don't worry think it is just the flop feeling we all get after Christmas.

Just a suggestion when I feel like this, take a large notebook and list the things you would want or need to do (if you felt like it). Then type up and prioritise, eg take Xmas goodies off your website. Clear down your website and comment on the front page what and when you are going to release new products (if you check mine out you will see what I mean).

I normally find that when I have a tidy up it then clears my mind to start again, also having a list steadies the mind. Then just sit back do some research, on line books, mags etc to focus yourself better. Pick one project that inspires you and make, you will find the mojo comes back as you progress.

Tiny steps turn into large leaps and we are here to support you.

Hiya, i know how you are feeling but try not to get down, sometimes you just have to be in the right frame of mind.....January is such a miserable month, what with all the bills post christmas blues it can all get on top of us.. I just had a peek at your site your work is fab dont talk yourself out of doing your fair in March cause if you let that one go past you may let another one then another. I can only tell you what i do when Im feeling a bit low ......I make it my mission to find something new that you are going to attempt to make by the end of the day (it doesnt have to be crafts could be a new reciepe for a cake)Then throw yourself into that project, i find that it does take your mind of what is getting you down and if it doesnt work then at least you have a big cake to eat!!yummy!! Why not buy a craft magazine for inpiration pick something, make it, then post it for us all to see......go on you know you can you will feel better i promise.....hope this helps keep your chin up

Agree with Caroleecrafts and Kazzells. I had to update our site and I kept putting it off for over a week. Finally when I sat down and started I found it wasn't so bad and got my head down and did what I needed to do. Felt quite chuffed afterwards aswell.

Then make sure you reward yourself with something...a nice glass of wine or an over indulgent cake/hot chocolate!

Apart from my writing I've done no crafting at all and I keep telling meself to get a move on and start work again!!

The weather does not help.... anyway, hoping to turn the corner any day now, which i'm sure you will!!!

Keep smiling and send out the search party for that mojo!

I know how you feel, I think the cold weather doesn't help with motivation.

I also keep having an attack of my work isn't good enough when itcomes to craft fairs!!

Hope you feel more positive soon.

I know exactly how you feel but I'm afraid I can't offer any 'motivation finder' advice.

I haven't really done any crafting since before Christmas other than one birthday card and a bookatrix for Aviya Glass... I have plenty of craft stuff and I got lots for Christmas and my birthday but I just can't seem to do anything with it.

I've tried getting all of my card making stuff out and seeing what I can come up with, but nothing works then I just get frustrated and give up.

I've bought a selection of crafty magazines over the last month or so... SewHip (as I thought about starting some sort of fabric craft), various card making and scrapbooking magazines and even a dolls house magazines to try to inspire myself but as yet I've not really found anything that's given me the kick up the backside I so desperately need.

For Christmas 2007, I got a latchhook rug kit thing which I haven't started yet... I've even taken all of that out of the box a few times and thought about starting that but no joy there either.

I'm hoping that over this next day or so I'll be able to get into some sort of craft that I can just get on with, without the frustration so that after my operation next Friday I can settle down with my crafting to recoup... time will tell I suppose.

Fingers crossed that we all find our mojo soon and start creating again.

                    Hello stranger!

Hope your well, We have all been poorly in our house which feels like forever now! (it all started back when me and you should have first met!) it passes from one to another and it really feels like its never ending, I know how you feel, I have felt the same many times, but hey feb is just around the corner, and all those valentine cards are awaiting sales....
I am hoping to do what we were talking about soon, if you still wanted to, let the viruses take thier course and when my home is free from anti biotics We'll arrange something if you still fancy it.

Take care and I hope the only bug you will be catching is the crafting one x

With your op looming over you then it's not surprising you're struggling with it really, that must be taking over everything. Hopefully you'll get going again afterwards.

                      Take care

                      xx

                        I feel the same -

get my beads out and just look at them,
the sewing machine is just sitting there!

Finally made a polymer clay flower pendant I was pleased with and DD aged 2 found it and crushed it before I could bake it! She came home early from playgroup because of burst pipe and I didnt have time to hide it!
She did say 'soorrreee mummy', so I forgave her, but.............no pendant!

Keep hoping the feeling will return........
                        With love
