  • selling foodstuffs at fairs

Hi all, can anyone tell me do you have to do anything special to sell cakes or sweets at craft fairs & is there anyone here who does this. If there is how do you normally get on ???. The reason I'm asking: did a fair yesterday in a village hall & it was very quiet but the person who seemed to be doing a brisk business was the lady selling jams & the lady who made pies & things. cheers.

Take a look at this, it could help answer a few questions.

my cousin sometimes sells home made pies, tarts and cakes from his food wagon (in a lay by on A27 near Ringwood if your passing) he has his food hygene cert. and he just puts a sticker on the bag saying what's in it. If anyone wants to be more specific he can tell them but most people just want to know what sort of cake etc it is.

I always see the food stalls selling out at any fairs.
Chocolate, toffee fudge and lemon drizzle cakes seem to be popular, as well as sausage rolls and cheese scones.

I always seem to be next to the ones selling the most delicious things - not good for the profits when you get tempted to spend!!!!!! (sorry profit is stretching it a bit!)

That's what grans are for my gran used to bake the most amazing sponges, made spending a boring afternoon while mum and gran were chatting worthwhile
