  • * Craft Fairs *

As we all know, with the current financial climate, money is very tight and we're all looking for ways to make money where possible so we want to maximise opportunities at craft fairs as much as possible.

Our first craft fair is on 15th November 2008 and we're already sorting out what we need to take so that if anything has been forgotten it gives us a chance to add to everything, rather than doing our usual trick of leaving everything until the last minute. So far our list consists of:

    STOCK
    5" x 7" cards
    Bookatrix cards
    Gift Tags
    Packs of xmas cards
    Fragranced candles
    Unfragranced candles
    Decorated candles

    DISPLAY
    Table covering
    Greetings card carousel (floor standing)
Wire card stand for bookatrix x2 (table top)
Cardboard card stand for 5x7 cards (table top)
Three tier stands for candles x2 (table top)
Baskets for gift tags and packs of cards
    Business cards and holder
    Leaflets and holder
    Christmas tree, tinsel, etc

    EVERYTHING ELSE
    Notebook
    Order forms
    Receipt book
    Pens
    Safety pins
    Sellotape
    Blu-tak
    Calculator
    Money tin
    Change (5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1)
    Bags/packaging
    List of candle fragrances

Oh and of course, baby wipes and tissues cos you just never know when you might need them lol.

Can anyone think of anything else that we might need/want to take with us?

No, but with a few amendments I'll "borrow" that list for when I do my first fair in a couple of week's time

I sometimes take a pad so people can write down their email address or home address to be added to your mailing list or circular when emailing people about other events.

You can then get an overview of where people live that came to the event.

I always take a small bottle of water/flask of coffee and a cereal bar in case there's no refreshments or you're too busy to leave your stall. Also a clipboard is good for taking names & addresses or orders and it gives your customers something to lean on if they're writing out a cheque and there's no space on your table.

I hadn't even thought about refreshments!! Definitely need to add the flask of coffee and couple of cans of redbull to the list!!

Anyone who wants to is welcome to use the list... I'm just glad that I've started to prepare early as usually I leave it til the last minute and forget half of what I need lol.

                Scissors

I think every fair I've done at least one person asks "Does anyone have a pair of scissors?"

I take along some 'stuff' to be getting on with - people can see I really do make my items. It is also a good way to be near without hawking over people while they are looking. I never do anything that would be tricky to put down should I need to.
All the best - you sound very organised

                    Good thinking, thank you!!

I've got the signs ready in the box and will have to have a think about what 'works in progress' I can take along with us.

If you're selling jewellery, then a mirror would be a good one to add

                            Another thought...

                            Headache tablets
Rescue remedy (I swear by this stuff lol)
Fingerless gloves - keep the hands warm but still make doing things possible lol

How about lighting? You seem to have everything pretty well covered though!
