Is anybody shifting their postage charges and package sizes to reduce the possible extra cost this new rule brings in on the 21st August(I think).

I will have to consider the new guidelines when it comes to pricing up the cost of delivery. I like the service the post office offers and have a very friendly local postmaster but may have to consider shopping around for the delivery company that offers the best service.
If anyone is interested, you can get a free size guide fom the post office website that shows you the sizes and comes with slots so you can measure your parcels etc. I think it's under the PIP (pricing in proportion) section.Visit my Etsy store http://swirlyarts.etsy.com

I think my bosses here will have to reconsider things. We usually use a courier but sometimes use the PO, sending a small cable in a big box!https://folksy.com/shops/GrimmExhibition

Lots of people aren't happy about it. I sell books on Amazon and loads of the sellers on there will have to put up the prices of their books to cover the extra costs as you can't set your own postage on there - its the same price for a thin paperback as for a textbook. There are lots of angry people on the discussion boards there!Visit my Etsy store http://swirlyarts.etsy.com

I am going to come unstuck big time. I have currently a one off postage amount of 80p for uk postage.(it has survived at that through two postage increases!) I always thought that this was a great selling point as poeple felt they could buy small amounts as they required it, and not be stung with huge postal costs.
Now because of the depth of my packages, I am going to be charged at least £1.00 for each parcel. My beads don't weigh a lot. They do however require lots of bubble wrap to travel them safe and well.
I am going to put my postage up to £1.00 per parcel. Still very resonable, but not as small as I'd hoped. I will have to try it out for a few weeks and see how it goes. I do hate to muck my clients around.full time mum and very very part time crafter.

I'm sure people will understand - can you put something about the postal increase on your p+p page? £1.00 still sounds very reasonable to me!Visit my Etsy store http://swirlyarts.etsy.com

My postal charges WILL increase so I have to put my postage up - there is no way I can absorb the cost. I did a few examples and one day post that would cost me about £10, ended up at £17 with the new rates!
I also use bubble envelope and I ''bubble wrap'' the beads. Quite a few parcels that I could post at 32p, 49p or 84p will start at £1 from next week because they won't fit through the 25mm slot.
Royal Mail claim that 80% of businesses will benefit but I doubt it very much and I don't know where they got their stats from, most people whom I've discussed it with will pay more.

I agree, it seems that most of the stuff I buy for scrapbooking and cardmaking can't be sent in anything but a box or envelope bigger then 12x12 because of the paper. So, this is obviously going to cost more.
I think RM is going to see a big increase in their profits and everyone else is going to see a big increase in their postal costs and charges.

“Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.”
“It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living.”
“In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.”

I find it amazing that they are increasing charges when in the recent past they have been criticized for not actually posting all of the post!Lots of things go missing!https://folksy.com/shops/GrimmExhibition

This something that I have been trying to prepare for but I am afraid that I am going to have add extra to my current P&P. Just sending one CD will cost me £1.00 now rather than 32p. I have always had a policy of only charging cost for my P&P but I have to cover my costs for packaging so the prices will have to go up a bit. Which is a pity but thats business I suppose.Funkyhand x
