  • Where's all the blokes?

    Hey,

Been a while since I've lurked on here but found the forum in my favourites so thought I'd do some more lurking.
As its coming up to Christmas the wife asked if I was planning to make anything. I've made some cards in the past and enjoyed it so thought I'd give that another go. Crafting always seems to be aimed at women, where are all the blokes?

Everything you see on the web is aimed at women. Most tools etc are pink or lilac and a lot of things (no offence) seem quite girly.
There must be other blokes out there that are into crafting and/or make cards etc, I cant be the only one surely.

my hubby loves cardmaking and is very good at it
sometimes its worrying how good he is at female cards lol
he finds it relaxing plus we're making money so he's well happy
he spends hours up in our craft room making lots of different cards
its nice that its something we both enjoy so now the children are nearly grown up we have something we can do together

As I type, my hubby is making earrings - at the last count he'd done 25 pairs but its early yet so he still has a way to go before he packs it in for tonight. Last night he made about 80 pairs. And earlier today he was "playing with his stones" in his workshop. Occasionally he does venture onto the forum - when I'm not around. which only backs up what Peter says. heheheh.

To be honest, I don't buy tools cos their "girly". most of mine have come from builder's suppliers and engineering workshops. I find that if you want serious tools, the men's just seem better than some of the girly options availble.

Oh there are certainly men around on this forum and despite Peter's comment they do make their presence felt. We are a very mixed bunch in more ways than one.

I'm here as well, 30 years on the building sites and still enjoy making jewellery and help her indoors make cards when she has a rush order on

I agree that most stuff seems to be aimed at women, which is funny 'cos hundreds of years ago, all the master craftsmen were, well, men.......

Or maybe there are loads of male crafters out there who aren't members of a forum 'cos they don't feel the need to chat to others, we women, we are well known for our chatting!

You must have done a lot of talking once a month to reach that number of posts in such a short space of time!!!!!!
