  • Need gift ideas for new grandchild. Help!!

My first (step)grandchild is arriving in the next couple of weeks so I want to be prepared with gift ideas. I'm thinking something personalised (once I know the name/date of birth etc) and I'm sure there are lots of great things that forum members make. Please let me have any suggestions/links to your website if you can help. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps I can help? Have a look at my site in the blankets section and see if there is anything you fancy.

Its not personalized or a keepsake but I have made for all the babies arriving in the family a sort of eiderdown/quilt made with polyester wadding and white sheeting, the centre panel in baby fabric. These are for use on the floor for baby to kick on. They are fully machine washable and tumble dry friendly, fold small and pack into a draw string bag (Made for the job and doubles as a toy bag later).
The quilt then also doubles as a cot covering later on. They are very easy tgo make and new Mums find them very useful.
Might not be what you are looking for but just an idea.

                Congrtulations!

I make hand stitched cross stitch pictures which I personalise with birth info etc. I have a couple listed on my dawanda site if you want to have a look, but do have some other disigns which I haven't listed yet, so feel free to ask.

I'm happy to create pics from scratch if I am able to.

Friends I've given them to have them framed into pictures and put on the wall.

                Val

Congratulations! You must be very excited.

I can personalise my nursery paintings. The butterfly is very popular at moment, and for boy the jungle animals are popular and I can personalise them too. Or if you don't know whether the little one will be a boy or a girl then I paint a teddy design.

You are all giving me such great ideas, I've been checking out any of your sites that I haven't already been on. I can see that instead of being stuck for ideas i will have so many great ones that it will be hard to choose!! Keep 'em coming. I know now that i won't be resorting to the same old stuff that I have bought in the past and I can support a fellow crafter or two at the same time. Thanks to all.

You may have seen my birthday/wedding photo frames on www.flickr.com/photos/woodtattoos or other Forum threads, they always make nice gifts. I can also do wooden plates with any choice of image or theme in the centre (such as nursery rhyme, cartoon, boy/girl designs) and the name/D.O.B around the rim. I've included a few images on here and there are probably more on my Flickr stream.

PM me if you have any more questions!

                      Si.
