  • Alchemy on Etsy

Now I'm not sure how I managed to miss this up until now but has anyone else checked out Alchemy on Etsy - it's the the bar at the top. Basically people write on there the items they would like made for them and the sellers come along and say 'Oh yeah, I could make that' and put a proposal in for the buyer to read and see of they want to accept. I had a look through this morning (and have put proposals in for a couple) and I saw loads of things on there that people on here could do. Wedding invitations, custom embroidery, some wood work, quilts, cake toppers, cards, dresses, candles, a rocket pillow, custom jewellery, wooden plaques, artwork. Everything basically! So I thought I would draw everyones attention to it and you might be able to 'bid' for some extra work! I've put the link below if anyone fancies it. Oh and there were lots of requests for help with websites, banner making etc etc

Well the two things I 'bid' for have been rejected but that's not a suprise as I didn't expect them to be accepted - off to have another look in a minute and see if there's something I can do!

I haven't logged into Etsy for ages, I've been so busy. I bet my shop has dropped by the wayside a little! This Alchemy feature sounds good, I will go and have a look now!

Oooh I'm all excited now. I've just put in a bid for a t-shirt. I'm hoping I'm in with a chance because the potential customer is in the UK!

Seriously though, Swirly is right. There is stuff on there for everyone to have a bash at. Leather workers, woodworkers, jewellers and so on. Got to be worth keeping your finger on the pulse!

Good luck with your bid! Not a great deal on there for me at the moment. I did manage to bid on a wedding frame request but they want it at a ridiculously cheap price so I'm probably not going to be successful this time. Still, I'll keep an eye on that for the future, thanks for letting us know about it!

Nevermind Swirly. Keep at it, there's bound to be something out there!

I've just realised what a stupidly low price I've quoted in my bid and now naturally the lady is interested! The trouble is my bid was $2 over her ideal price so I didn't want to scare her off! I can do it, it's just that I won't be getting much for my time. Well such is the life of the crafter!

It'll get your name out there too and you can be featured in the alchemy requests photo's (I think - not sure how to do it though) and you'll know for next time!! Are you going to make it for her?

She seemed a bit concerned that she couldn't see what it would look like first. So I've said that I'll go ahead and make it and if she doesn't like it I'll put it on my website.
I asked her to give me an idea of colours etc, if she had any preference but she hasn't got back to me on that one. I thought the whole point of custom orders is that the customer asks for what they want!? Anyway, I'm not holding my breath. I'll do it and if she doesn't want it then I've got more stock for my website!

BTW Swirly your little package made my day! Have already used one of the tags and re-used the mail bag to send a friend a keyring I made for her! Of course I made sure one of your fantastic buisness cards were inside too!
