  • Competition for UK mums who make cakes!

Hi just wondered if there are any UK mums on here who make children's cakes?

There is a Facebook page called More Than Mummies that are running a competition at the moment but you have to enter a photo of your cake by 17th June, so not long (see the notes section for all the details).

It's a page trying to help support mums with businesses or hobbies and you can tell people what you are selling to try and increase your sales.

It's really good and is very supportive of crafty types, there's also a competition for greetings cards made by a mum! But that one ends on the 31st May.

What exactly do you mean by "Crafty types". I don't feel any different to anyone else.

I am crafty but agree with you Carol no different from anyone else.

Also sorry if I offend but am getting a bit fed up with having 'Mum's in Business' rammed down my throat as if anyone without a child in business is not worthy and does not have to work as hard, I have no children, never been that way inclined but work just as hard as someone with kids and consider myself as a crafter a valuable member of business society whatever my gender or offspring situation. Anyone who is in business for themselves deserves recognition regardless of age, race, gender, marital status. Note you also mention a hobby in which case I presume they do not sell their wares if they do are in business and should be legal and pay tax and NI and I presume as they all sell they all have a current hygiene certificate as well.

By the way I can also cook and very well, shock horror.

I don't have children, hard enough bringing up a husband! However, I do have cats and have always had cats, so how about a page, group or competition for us 'More Than a Cat Owner' crafty types?

Yes lets do that....we can then discriminate against anyone who doesn't own a cat

There is a group on Giant Potential called 'Women without Children' and proud of it, women who felt that they were under valued because they did not have or want kids and there are a lot of us out there and we will make our stand and be heard. By the way Jill add dogs to that group and agree husbands can be so demanding.

You have hit the nail on the head Netty discrimination, wonder what the courts would say if this was taken up with them

Snap Paula except my baby is a tabby, maybe we count as mummies to our furbabies?

                    The list is endless:

A competition for UK cat owners who make cakes
A competition for UK dog owners who make cakes
Or, how about a competition for UK cat owners (and dog owners of course) who don't cook or have children but can make..........?

Oh dear, just remembered, I have about 22 goldfish and shubunkins in an outdoor pond - well I did say the list is endless

Why not just a competition for those that make cakes, end of, after all if you can bake a cake you have the right to join in that should be the only criteria for a cake making competition, or if you bake and sell therefore running a business that is a criteria having or not having children is not a criteria but an insult and legally against our human rights to join in an open competition as we then become a minority group and treated unfairly through discrimination for which there are legal rules to stop discrimination.

                        Sounds good to me.

As long as my cats can take part that is.

I used to have children, they grew up into lovely adult citizens, I used to have a cat, but it died of old age.

I have never made cards, but I can bake a mean cake.

Would I be able to join?

'The UK group of people whose children have grown up, once had a cat, and can make a mean cake' group?
