We always used to say "Go and do some hand washing" That certainly cleans your hands. Alternatively you could try white spirit or nail polish remover but a good soapy wash and loads of handcream afterwards.

Black Coffee, the carbon in it eliminates garlic, fish and food smells - hence cooks soaps are always black coffee;-)

"Wash" your hands under cold running water with a steel object. Any stainless-steel object will do - rub it over all the skin and surfaces of your hands like it was soap. Must be under cold running water, though - you need the connection to earth that the cold tap gives you for this to work!

I swear by the stainless steel trick - great for onions and garlic and any smelly stuff on your hands. You can buy discs specially designed for this (I have one by the kitchen sink) but have used the tap itself if it goes walkabout.

What's wrong with the smell of garlic? I can think of much worse smells.

Washing them in salt and water should do the trick. It definitely works for onions.

Will definitely work! I make batches of garlic paste (great for garlic bread, mixing into thai curries or pepperpot) now and then - and only lemon juice really gets rid of the smell!
