  • Dress for the wedding

Well, my green dress and black dress are being put on the back burner for a while, especially the black dress as I cant get the length of lace i need to finish the skirt so now I start the dress for the wedding.

I nearly went for choclate brown with a brown shot chiffon floaty jackety thing, but stopped myself and went for plum, purple, auberginey coloured materials.
They all looked as though they were exactly the same colour in the shop, I get them out the shop, see them in daylight and they are all slightly different in colors but look like they will work well.

Im going for gold accessories, alreay have shoes and bag from my brothers wedding so half the work is done.
Oh, and I get to make my own necklace and earrings, thats my best part.

Gona start the dress tomorrow, take deep breaths today.

Im sure there will be photos that people send me via interweb or facebook, so somehow youl get a picture.Still got a couple of weeks yet, weddings on 26th.

This is manky but every now and again I get spots on my back and dread it happening for the wedding as the dress is a bit backless.
I tried on one of my other made dresses yesterday which still had pins in it and managed to scratch a pin down my back, so I have a lovely red mark on me.Hopefully itl be gone pre wedding.

It sounds really nice and I bet no-one else will have a dress like it!! You can then tell people who enquire that it was you, the talented dressmaker / jewellery creater who designed and made it. And yes, you are available for consultations to create something as equally stunning. But at a cost, you understand. Things like this do not come cheap, and after all, they are one of a kinds.

Print that off, and take it with you to the wedding - fame and fortune awaits!!

Tell people its midges as you've been gardening at dusk......

I bought some chiffonny type material to make a floaty 1930's style cape thingy(made a black one a few years back) to cover any unsightly bits.May take it off at some points if nature hasnt erupted.

Ive always wanted to wear a fascinator so Il have a look for one.Il have to duck down in the car when I drive there.

Annoyingly I just looked at some gold shoes I had and thought would be ideal, they are a dull gold, I was after a vibrant gold.Looks like il be spending money on shoes again.

                      Disasters so far-
-Zip didnt go to well at the bottom, rest is ok.
-Added the lining which, when I tried it on, seemed to shrink the whole thing so I felt huge.
-Gape at the top front, not too bad but not the look I was going for
-Made the chiffony floaty thing and managed to sew one section twisted so I need to unpick it.
-Theres a big stain on the material, I only noticed this once Id cut the pieces out.'Is it on the back, in a place that wont show' I hear you cry.No it blooming isnt, it on the front in full view.Il have to add an empire line but of ribbon, not a design feature i wanted.
                      -I look huge in it
                      - I cant iron for toffee

                      other than that its-
                      - a beautiful colour
                      -the only one in existence
-Ive discovered that amethyst swarovski beads will look amazing with it.
-Ive decided not to spend money on new shoes/bag.I will stick to the ones I already have.No point in spending more money on heeled devices of torture.

In general I have something to wear which is nice but for some reaason I dont look like Halle Berry when I put it on.

I'm sure you will look stunning and as has already been said, I'm sure you will get lots of enquiries as your dress will be a "one of a kind" and people will want to know all about it.

Think positive, be confident and enjoy your day at the wedding.

Looking forward to seeing photographs of your finished design

Well, Ive made the straps longer, shaped the necklace so its a bit wavey rather than straight across.I managed to get the edges where the zip runs up to line up.
I made soem loops for a empire line ribbon to go through at the sides of the dress, tried it on last night and one of the loops popped open so have to do that again.
My floaty jackety thing is more or less done, just need to cut off lose bits of cotton.

I have to do the hem which is all over the place.
Mum and dad are back tomorrow so I have to do a frantic tidy up as im using their lounge/dining room to create in, theres bits of cotton and cloth everywhere.

I also need to make a list of all the beads/components ive used in my jewellery to help me with my tax return form(I seem to have bought a load of beads but not used them in my work)which is gona take forever. And basically tidy the entire house before 10.30am tomorrow.

Ive done all the machine sewing Im going to do.
Im tired of the whole thing.Ive got the hem reasonably striaght(bit longer at the back)but looks ok.
Couple more stains have turned up, one strap looks like its under alot of stress of the weight of the dress, but that be covered by the floaty thing.
I attempted to iron it.Maybe able to get my mum onto that, she always makes things look better.

Anyhoo, hand sewing only now. Then Im done.
