Whilst digging out all my decorations last night, I found a box of unused tree decorations, santas and reindeers made out of wood. They're only little thing, and ive been toying with the idea of decorating them somehow, and then using them on Christmas cards. I thought that if I left the hanging thread on them, then people could take the decoration off the card and use it. What do you all think?

If you are happy with that then I don't see why not. We tend to hang on to our tree decorations and pass them down through the family so I would'nt but thats just me. I am sure they will give someone a lot of pleasure.Carol
God helps them that help themselves.

I don't usually part with decorations, but these are little things that I wouldn't put on my tree, and have absolutely no idea where they came from. They're even still in the sealed box, never been opened. But i can't justify just throwing them away when there must be something I could do with themMy facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/?sk=h_chr#!/...tiqueadlington

Absolutely use them to decorate cards! I've done it myself! AND, I have seen plenty of boxed cards - very expensive - with "flat ornaments" on them....
I have made a couple of flat needle felted things to put on cards.
Go for it!

I think, that is a great idea. People will be getting 2 for 1 (card and a little present - the tree decoration).Passionate about all things handmade...

That's what I was thinking, they'll get a little extra something. Now I've just got to figure out how to do it. I've got a bit of crafters block with Christmas stuff at the momentMy facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/?sk=h_chr#!/...tiqueadlington

I think that's an excellent idea. You'll want to find some sort of glue that is tacky but will come off the decoration with ease. Alternatively, you could 'sew' the decoration to the card?Carol

It sounds like a great idea to me. I was going to do something similar last year but didn't have enough time to make enough decorations so they all ended up on my tree.
I think it's nice to give people something they can use year after year instead of just a card which'll go in the recycling in January.

I'm going to give them a go tomorrow, been concentrating on decorating jars this week for Christmas presents. I can't decide wether to use my glue pen or foam sticky pads to stick in the decorations with. I might have a go at both and see how they turn out. Hopefully I'll have some lovely cards to show off on here tomorrowMy facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/?sk=h_chr#!/...tiqueadlington
