Sewing Machine Help

I've just been into John Lewis and spoken to a really unhelpful lady!

I need help!

I need to know which sewing machine to buy to stitch on card and paper. What do you use? I need a cheapish one £50- £60!

Please help!!

I think most machines will be fine doing this, For that price range I'd go for a second hand one personally and buy the best make (or at least a make you have heard of) and most recently serviced one that you can.
