I am thinking of getting one of these as i've seen some lovely cards made using the bookatrix.

    Has anyone got one?
Is it easy to make a card with these?
    Is it very time consuming?

Have you got any hints or tips for when using one.

    Thanks all.

its very easy not time consuming and you can get some beautiful results. This is the board that sells out first in my shop eveytime.

Mark the channels on your board 1,2,3,4, with a marker pen so you can see which channel to use for which page.

Wax back of your card with a candle, this helps the tool run a lot easier.

tape card to board with stencil tape to stop it moving.

Use a 6mm embossing tool anything smaller might punch through your card and will not give youas good an result.

practice on a copier people until you know the design.

They wont fit in an envelope so you need to make a box which can be done easily on a box scoring tool.

    Let your creativity run wild.

Did you ever get one? I'm considering getting one of these but I keep putting it off because I'm not sure how often I'd use it?

It depends if you make a lot of 'special' cards. You spend a while making them, and you have to use more card for the layers, so I would say it would cost more to make a bookatrix card than just a normal card. Other than that the cards always look fabulous!

I've also got a bookatrix board (and a few others) and although I've only made a few cards so far, I intend to use it quite a lot in the future. I've noticed that the glitter girls have started using tumble drier sheets instead of the candle, they also mention soap too...has anyone tried the tumble drier sheets yet? Also, although you have to use 3 or 4 sheets of A4 card plus a couple for the box, I see that they sell for up to 7 pounds (sorry, the pound sign above my 3 is showing # ), so although you do use more card, I think people are prepared to pay the extra for them

I use my bookatrix board all the time. Most of my card orders are for these and depending on the embellishments, they start at £5.00 and go up to £8.00 (I make the boxes myself too and wrap the finished card in co-ordinating tissue paper before placing it in the box).
As it is a keepsake card, people don't mind paying the extra bit for it. Plus I find it does take quite a bit longer than a normal card.

I only use the 3 layers on each card and "roll" the card over a small plastic bottle (my glitter glue bottles work perfectly for this purpose) to give it that extra page look.
Also, instead of peel offs all the way round the edge, I glitter glue in irredescent, makes it pretty and glittery of course lol.
Once I have been here and posted enough, I will put some piccies up!

Good luck if you get one, you will love it and then have to buy more boards (as I have done)

I'm another card maker who loves the bookatrix board, in fact I have most of the boards and the only one I don't use a lot is the board with the alphabet on. I make books that fit on an A5 card also fixed paged books were I only decorate the top layer or for more special cards I only attach pages on the spine and decorate each page. Most of these are for wedding.
I use the candle method as didn't find the tumble drier sheets worked as well for me.

I'm another one who loves my bookatrix board and a lot of my orders are for these... I haven't tried either the candle or the tumble drier sheets so might have to look into that.
