  • Men!!! Is it just me?

Is it just me or do any of you find it really difficult to make male cards?
What do you put on them if they are not into fishing or football?
I have had a few people asking for masculine handmade cards but i've never been happy with what i produce with the exception of one which was for an 18 year old, at that age most male only think of two things, women and beer so i created the number 18 out of bottle caps (took me a while to drink the bottles to get enough caps though).

    Any ideas?

That bottle cap/18 was a good idea.
I think with guys its more of a colour thing, ie dont use pinks and sparkle, more blues/dark colours/metals.

As for themes, Im stumped too.

Could you do a pic of a rugby ball with those metal hole stud things hammered into the card, as the ball has laces(I think)as part of the design?!

Thats a good idea. I've only used eyelets to string a piece of ribbon with a charm on it across a card.

      Thanks,

No never have any idea with men. Most I know are not into sports... so they tend to get animals of various types on cards that are of non girly colours.

My daughter does decoupage and she has a good selection of male decoupages.
Bucket filled with beer cans, shirt tie and jacket (suggest maybe a photo of the guys face to add to that one)
                Wheelbarrow with plants in.
I'll add more when I ask her

For male cards I do an origami folded shirt. Look on my website under the "For Him" male section and you will see them on the last page.

I can send you one if you want and you can take it apart and see how they are done. I find male cards a nightmare, and to be honest tend to give shop bought ones. Failing that I do more of an abstract card using retro coloured paper.

PM me with your postal address if you want me to send you a paper folded shirt (likewise if anyone else is interested). Once you start making these they become really easy.

I've made little shirts in the past with fabric but it was a nightmare due to all the folds needed - hadn't even thought of making them with paper!!

I've got an origami book which shows how to do a folded shirt from a £5 note - might be a nice variation for a gift if you popped it in one of those mini envelopes you can get. I could get photocopies is anyone is interested - although I bet the instructions are on the net somewhere.
I usually do abstract designs for men, I've got good milage out of an old abstract art calendar my hubby had a few years ago.

... I guess what we really should do is learn to fold money into Ferrari shapes?
