  • What makes a card a card?

I've started getting more interested in making 'keepsake cards' recently after seeing some fantastic ones on the forum. However, a few nights ago, me and my hubby started debating what makes a card a card. We both agree that it should convey some sort of message or sentiment, but he thinks that my new cards are definitely more models than cards. (Here's a link to pictures so that you can see what we were talking about - http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/3531264605/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/3531264709/ ) I argued back that I thought that they could be classed as cards as they can go flat and fit into a standard envelope.

Any thoughts? Or am I the only person to ponder about such trivial things?!

    Emma.

Emma, you know I think your cards are brilliant, and that I also think you should market them in many different ways and to other potential markets too.. ..

They are certainly far more than "just a card", but as an item you can write a sentiment or message on, and post in an envelope, I would say that they are cards to those who want to use them in that way..

The purchasers and recipients may see them as keepsake cards, or even as gifts in their own right too.. I am certain you could sell them as gifts, themed sets, or as kits for folk to make and decorate in their own style.. don't use your energy pondering whether they are cards or not.. just get on with selling them by the thousand

      I agree with Sparkysdad.

Your cards are lovely, different and well thought out.

As a customer, I buy cards that I think suit the person (so long as I like them too)

Does it really matter whether they are cards/keepsakes/gifts?

Keep up the good work and bringing in new designs.

                They are fantastic

I really don't think it matters what they are called as anyone receiving one will love it. Now off to have a look at your website!

Definitely agree with what everyone else has said... it doesn't matter what they are called as long as people can appreciate the work going into it and the end product, which I am sure they will/do.

They can be used as a card, keepsake, gift and decoration in one... not many things can say that!!

                  Keep up the good work

Yes - get on with it.

The cards are really good (and not easily copied).

I agree with everyone else - it doesn't matter much what you call them, but I do think they'll be kept much longer than most cards. And they'll also be remembered more than most cards, because they're so different.

They are rather special cards!! Also keepsakes, also mini-gifts.
