  • Card making stuff (HELP)

Hi I live in Leicester and there are only 2 shops that sell craft items Dominoes and Gadsby's both are really exspensive and do not have much in the way of card making items can anyone suggest anywhere else like a good site on the website where you can get reasonable priced card making items from?

    Thanks Kim

I get my card from the Paper Mill Shop and envelopes from Liz's Crafts (usually). I don't tend to buy much else, but I do go through a heap of printer ink! Sorry that I can't be more help.

    Emma.

I use several website, because like you, we have no shops locally and only one in Dumfries.

I use the papermill for a lot of my card. I also use nattnetty for mulberry papers, eyelets, tape, foam pads and lots of other things. I have used Liz crafts in the past too.

As for embellishments, I normally have a good idea of what I am looking for, and then havea hunt on the net or post in here!

Of course, there is always eBay. I have picked up a few bargains there before and also boot fairs where people sell off what they don't need, use or got bored with.

QVC and Ideal World's createandcraft are excellent too. Dawn Bibby should be on QVC today between 2 and 4, although she has to rush all the time, which is a shame as she used to demonstrate techniques a lot more. I also have a gander at ebay occasionally (haha!), I get my hammered cream and white card from there and paper to match. Nice thick printer paper is also excellent for inserts. The createandcraft website is great and, if you don't have sky, you can watch on your computer. They spend a lot more time showing you how to do things and answering questions too. Happy crafting

There's a brilliant shop in Leicester...its called nova trimmings and is on frog island near quickfit. Its a wholesalers and you have to spend a minimum of £35 (I think) and the prices on items doesn't include vat. BUT things are literally half the price of crafts shops! I never have a probem spending the minimum...I have a problem at the other extreme!!

East Carlton Park is easily accessible from Leicester, not far from Market Harborough. They have some lovely craft studios and craft supply shops: dolls house, pottery, patchwork and cardmakers supplies. They also do workshops.

Our neighbour has a Fabric Shop, and they buy things like Ribbon, Beading, cords, and all the "accessory" type stuff from a couple of Wholesalers in Manchester.. The Wholesalers have decent craft sections too..though as with Nova, there is a minimum spend and prices are before VAT..

Some also ask that you are a Business, though you can be prepared and make up a business letterhead at home and take it with you.. they rarely if ever check.. as long as you want to buy!

I am sure it would be worth looking up these types of suppliers across the country if you are prepared to spend more than a few ££'s at a time.
