Smacked myself - then had a brainwave!!

Hi

I was just dashing up to the PO to take today's orders when my youngest son phoned my mobile - to tell me some news - "ah, bless him" I thought,
then I thought "oh S**t!!"

It is his birthday tomorrow and I had forgotten, well not forgotten but not got round to getting him a card.

I ask you I spend all this time on this website ooohing and arring at all your lovely cards and forgot to get one for my son.

Please do not take away my rep points all you lovely card makers, report me to the NSPCC if you must, but not my points because I had a brainwave that would help me and could help you.

I need someone to organise my card sending for me - I am sure there are many other busy people who need the same.

I need a card maker who will keep a data base of my birthday book, who will then email me 10 days before the event, I buy a card, hey presto, you get a sale and I don't get reported to the NSPCC!!

What do you think???

I'm not organised enough to do something like that, but I could do with someone to do it for me lol!

After school I used to work in the local paper shop and they had a few customers who gave them all the birthdays of their family and friends and then they would be sent the cards, envelopes and stamps so that they didn't have to remember to buy cards for a year!

My great grandma used to write all her cards for the next year out and have them stamped ready to post and she'd put the date to post them in the corner. After she died everybody got really spooked when they found them in her drawer!

Would be more than happy to do something like that - could have details of the people on the list with ideas about their likes and dislikes to help suggest a card. I am good at databases too!!

I'd be willing to give it a go, I mark everything on the calendar anyway so shouldn't be too difficult to remmebr to email people

I don't have a website to sell from but I do have a gallery where my cards are displayed.

That sounds like a great idea... I've got lots of experience working with databases and diaries, etc so it's definitely a service that I'd love to introduce to our website

Yea, this sounds like a cracking idea.
If you used the calendar on your email (say, Outlook), there's usually the function to have a reminder set up, so you would set it to remind you 2 weeks before or something.

I'm sure there's people out there who already do this, it would be a great idea..... might have to look into it

Oh I do keep a diary, with up to 10 things to do each day - I see a birthday and think "I must get a card" - then I am afraid life takes over

Yea, my mom said that as well - she wants me to make the cards for all the family. She forgot about my cousins birthday (sorry, have you got the number for the NSPCC??!) just before Christmas, and basically left it too late for me to make one...... so now I've been given a lst, and I'm expected to remember on her behalf!!!!

I'm sure we could come to some sort of arrangement, and a job title like that would look great on my CV

Yes, I'm debating setting up a website, but I'm just seeing how MISI works out for a bit. I read on here about the fan page on facebook, so I set that up the other day (which is why I only have 3 fans, including myself!) and I'm hoping that will get a few people interested.

Finally - I've found others who share my total inability to send birthday cards on time! My OH and his family remember everything - all the childrens birthdays, our wedding anniversary (even we forget that!) and we always get cards from them. They rarely get any from us

I need one of those organiser boxes so all the birthdays are listed and I can fill it with cards at the beginning of the year. I've tried listing them in my filofax and also tried a list on my laptop but I still fail.
